Better Images with a Point and Shoot Camera

October 7th marked the date for our first ever class to be taught by Photo Society! Layton Powell played the role of instructor and did an excellent job for a first timer!

Starting off, he got a feel for the different levels of photographic skills of the class by asking questions pertaining to the types of camera they used, what kind of photography they liked, and even so much as to see if there was anything they hoped to learn so he could make sure to address it.

While the crowd was smaller than hoped with only 5 members and one non member (not counting the six officers in attendance), a good time was had by all.

After finishing his power point lecture, Layton made sure the class had understood what he had taught by having them apply the rules to photographs he showed on screen. The class did very well and was able to point out everything they learned without prompting.

Layton also brought his own camera to use for examples and to help him answer any questions regarding settings and menu options.

Way to go Layton for doing an awesome job on teaching!

Photo Society BBQ

September 2nd 2008:

First meeting of the year was the annual Photo Society BBQ and what an amazing turn out we had. I think we had more people there than we have ever had since I have been here. It was also one of the few times that it managed not to rain on us (although we wish it would have to get rid of some of humidity!). While things began with a rocky start due to some last minute issues and kinks, all was well in the end and everyone left with full bellies.

I also apologize for the lack of quality in the pictures for the website this time (you would think there would be awesome quality pics on photography website…). Evidently, my point and shoot just wasn’t cutting it this time.
